Plea was bred by The Duke of Devonshire and is a half-brother to the Coronation Cup winner Ask. He is a very typical son of Motivator both in looks and temperament; he is also an impatient horse who wants to get on with his exercise and John Gosden is keen that he is given plenty of racing this season to keep his mind occupied.

Plea ran a much improved race at Bath on 9th September to finish third beaten approximately eight lengths by the impressive winner Dux Scholar. They went no pace early on which had Plea taking a keener hold than Nicky Mackay would have wanted but he then settled into a much better rhythm and travelled nicely before the field quickened with three furlongs to run. Plea quickened up nicely with them and just over two furlongs from home he looked the possible winner but he wandered slightly and changed his legs in the last furlong and a half - probably because he was getting tired and also through greenness. John Gosden was very relieved to see Plea running so much better and he is hopeful that the horse can win a similar race next time over a mile but ideally on softer ground.
