Sire sensation Montjeu, whose short career at stud has already produced a world champion in Hurricane Run in 2005 and Derby winner Motivator in the same year, is highly sought after at the sales and John Warren was delighted to be able to buy this cracking colt at Goffs in Ireland for 90,000 Euros. This colt will be trained by Sir Michael Stoute, champion trainer for the tenth time this season. Sir Michael has trained some of Highclere's stars such as Petrushka, Highest, Beekeeper, Distinction and this year, the fast improving Harbinger.
The colt completed the early stages of his breaking process at Highclere Stud and moved to Malcolm Bastard’s yard near Lambourn before Christmas. This is a lovely big horse who will need some time to mature and there is no rush to get him into full training with Sir Michael until he is absolutely ready so in February Academy came back to Highclere for an easy month on the walker. He really does fill the eye and if looks and pedigree are anything to go by this colt will really be one to look forward to.
